Eden 5 months

Our baby girl is 5 months old! The pic is a day late, but things have been insane since we have been home. Our house is a WRECK with all of the Christmas stuff and I am trying desperately to unpack and get everything back in order. Here is her 5 month pic...and the others for comparison! Will update more later.....promise. :)

Pictures from last week

Here are a few pics I wanted to share from last week. Last Thursday evening, we went to sit on Santa's lap. Since I had the kids matching, I figured I'd take a few pics of my own. I was seriously lying to myself if I thought I could get a good pic of THREE kids! So they all ended up being "outtakes".....

Not happy on Jacobs lap..

OK, lets try Parker's lap....

Nope. She didn't like that either. How about the Bumbo seat?

Nope. Not that either. Maybe a kiss from her brothers will make her feel better?

Ohhhhh no. Not amused at all!!

Well, at least I got one of the boys with their letters to Santa.

There is a HUGE mailbox right where Santa is that they got to put their letters in. Jacob was enthralled!

Early Devenny Christmas...

We gave the kids their Christmas presents from us today. They were too big to take home and we wanted them to have time to play with them before we left. The rest of the week is crazy with their Christmas program tomorrow night and then Thursday evening is Avery's birthday party...so we decided to have Christmas tonight. We got Parker a Big Wheel and Jacob 'Rock Band' for Wii. They LOVED them!! Parker was so amused with his Big Wheel and Jacob wanted Rock Band so bad that he was over the moon! We played the rest of the evening with only a short break to scarf down dinner. Mike was on the drums, Jacob on the guitar and me on the microphone. Fun, fun, fun!!

Merry Christmas!!

2:02:00

Yesterday was the White Rock Half Marathon and I proudly completed it in 2 hours and 2 minutes...exactly! My watch showed 2:02:04, but the official results have me at 2:02:00 so I wont argue. ;) It was a really tough race for me. I wasn't feeling well, so I took some DayQuil on the way to the race. Anyone who knows anything about running knows to NEVER do anything different on race day, but I had to...I just wasn't feeling up to par. That really messed me up! I was profusely sweating and I could tell my circulation was affected...my legs felt like bricks! But I did it and it is over. Whew! ;) Here are a few pics from yesterday!

Me right after finishing...

Also, I want to apologize for being slack on my blog. Preparing for the holidays have had us sooo busy and I literally haven't had time to do it. I'll be better after Christmas, I promise!

A quick update on the past week...

1. Parker got all his hair cut off! It made me really sad, but he always wanted a 'mohawk' like his brother...and his hair was just too long. I asked them if they could trim the top and they said "not without cutting the sides shorter"....so I gave in. BOO-HOO! (but everyone LOVES it!....except me)

2. We were paid a visit my one of Santa's elves! The "Elf on the Shelf" is the new fad and we got one! We named ours Herbie (Jacobs choice) and every night he goes back to Santa and gives a report...and appears the next morning in a new spot. The kids - namely Jacob - love finding him in the morning!

3. I got my Christmas cards out. You should be receiving them within the week!

That about sums it up......

Pre-marathon jitters....

Well, the White Rock half marathon is this weekend. Sunday morning to be exact. And I am a ball of nerves.

I am not sure why, as I have been training for months now. I have been running tons, weight training and eating properly. (Except for last night's dinner which consisted of a bag of popcorn and some leftover apple pie. And I had it a la mode of course. But lets not talk about that). Besides that though...I have been fueling and hydrating properly. Other than my sleeping, I have been doing everything right! So why am I nervous? Not sure. I really want to have a good run and enjoy it. I don't want to suffer through the whole thing....which inevitably happens from time to time. Runs will be going great and then one will SUCK...for no apparent reason. I haven't had a bad run in a while and I am due! Lets just hope it isn't this weekend.

When people ask me if I am doing the full or the half, I always respond with "Just the half". "Just the half". Why do I say that!? It is 13 miles for God's sake, and 13 miles is nothing to scoff at. I'm sure when I finish and people ask me I wont be saying "Just 13 miles"!

Anywho...cross your fingers and toes that I have a good run. 13 miles is a long way to go to have a sucky run. I need to put together a playlist. Any good tune ideas?

Our weekend

My mom came in on Friday so she could watch the kids for us Saturday night so we could stay out for the iOLAP Christmas party. We had a great time!

We left Saturday at about 2 pm. We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton in Dallas, which was right across the street from Nobu, where the Christmas party was. When we got there, we went to a little pub down the street to watch the FL/AL game. We stayed for a few hours and then came back to the room to start getting ready. The dinner was great and the party was lots of fun! Nobu was great....great food and awesome atmosphere. We went to Joyce Champagne bar afterwards, where the company had reserved couches and had bottle service for us. It was a fun place with great music. We danced until the wee hours.

The next morning we headed home to take my mom to the airport. Her stay was WAY too short, but at least we will see her in two weeks for Christmas. I know she had fun with the kids, but she was up all night with Eden and was stuck eating leftovers out of my fridge for meals. Sorry mom!

Anyway, it was a great weekend and I am still recovering! I am way too old to stay up that late!

Signing off for the weekend

I hope you all have a great weekend! My mom is flying in tonight and we have a busy busy weekend. I'm sure I wont update until early next week so I wanted to leave you with some pics for the weekend! The iOLAP Christmas party is this weekend so I'm sure I'll have tons of pics to share next week. XOXO to all!

******Edited to add one more thing.

This is a picture of Mike at 5. Everyone thinks Jacob looks just like Mike. He seems to look like Mike does *now*, but not as Mike at age 5. Who do you think this looks like? I think it looks just like Parker!

Eden's 4 month stats and her first goose egg

We had Eden's 4 month appointment on Tuesday and she is right on track! The doctor did discover an ear infection (which could explain the zombie like state I have been in for the past week *yawns*...she won't sleep!), but otherwise she was just perfect!

She was

14 lbs. 5 oz. - 75%
24 1/2 inches - 80%

Our big girl!

Conversely, the boys were

Jacob - 17 lbs. 8 oz. & 25 1/4 inches
Parker - 15 lbs. 9 oz. & 26 1/2 inches

She is definitely smaller than they were (which she should be), but still a big girl per the charts. Ana has lovingly coined the name "fatty Patty" for her. She has a HUGE belly (even the doctor commented) and rolls everywhere. And her 'jowls'.....my gosh! They hang down over her collar practically! But all these things are what makes her so darn cute and squeezable. I just want to eat her!

Onto more eventful things; Eden had a first the other night. No she didn't say my name or sit up unassisted. It wasn't her first spoon feed or her first night in her crib either (Yes she is still in a bassinet by our bed. Yes I know she is too big for that. I am in denial and like to pretend she is still a newborn. I am not ready for her to grow up...WAHH!) Anyhow, those wonderful 'firsts' to write in the baby book....nope. They haven't occurred yet. But this little devil...

gave her her first goose egg! He looks innocent enough, right? All curled up in Edens bouncy seat like a little angel. Don't let him fool you. He is Dennis the Menace in disguise. Eden was innocently laying under her activity mat cooing and batting at toys...like so.

Apparently Parker decided that she looked bored and needed something else to play with. He picked up the nearest thing, which happened to be the top to the bouncy seat. The offending toy is pictured below.

Don't think that I placed it randomly either. It is placed exactly where it landed when he decided to toss it to her. Of course, Edens catching skills aren't up to par yet, so it landed on her forehead. Hence the giving of the first goose egg. Don't be fooled by the looks of the thing either...it is filled with D batteries and is heavy as all get out. Poor thing! I didn't have the heart to take a picture of the goose egg when it happened, because I was too busy comforting and punishing.

So there you have it. Maybe not the first that you were thinking....but a first nonetheless! Eden is going to be tough as nails when she gets older. I'm calling it now!!

O Christmas Tree

Well, we got our Christmas Tree put up yesterday! Since we aren't going to be here for Christmas, we decided to get a small 6 foot tree this year instead of our usual gargantuan one. It is so cute and was soooo much easier to get in the stand and put lights & ornaments on. I think I have a new love for small trees!

Anyway, it was great fun and Jacob really got into it. Unfortunately (for him, not us) Parker was napping, but it did make decorating so much easier! He woke up and shrieked at our new living room addition. He loved it....especially Jacob's old "Naughty Nascar" ornament!

Here are some pics...

He finally got it!

And lastly, my favorite Christmas decorations....children terrified of Santa!!
