Fundraising

So for once....I am NOT fundraising! Fundraising is so hard, especially in this economy. But there are so many wonderful causes out there. If you cannot donate your time to the various organizations out there, I'd encourage you to donate monetarily to someones cause. Not only will it make you feel good, but it will effect so many people in the long run. There are so many children and families effected by these diseases....and I TRULY believe one cure will lead to a cure for all. I truly do!

Here are a couple friends that are fundraising right now. Please take a minute to check them out. Choose one that is near and dear to you or someone that you love, and contribute your weekly coffee, lunch or wine allowance toward them. It is such a wonderful thing to do!

My friend Monica is fundraising for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of a little girl named Ayla. Here is an excerpt from the email she sent out.

I wanted to share a story with you about a little girl by the name of Ayla Tucker. Ayla’s mother Krista is a dear friend of mine that I have known for just a few years but she and her daughter have made a BIG impact on me. When Krista was pregnant with Ayla, I found out that I was expecting Owen. We would often talk about how close in age our kids would be (just 6 months apart), and how great it would be watching them grow up together. I have always joked that one day Ayla would be my daughter-in-law. During Krista’s pregnancy in a routine ultrasound they suspected that little Ayla may have Cystic Fibrosis because they spotted intestinal blockage. After months of speculation, tests, and many tears their fears were confirmed and the diagnosis became official, Ayla had CF.

The email says a lot more, but I just wanted to give a little info. If you know and love anyone with CF, please consider a donation!

Another friend that is fundraising is my friend Tabitha. 10 years ago she found out that she had a rare form of cancer called Liposarcoma. She has put together a Relay for Life team and is currently fundraising. I know we ALL know and love someone with cancer, so if this is something you would be interested in donating to, please consider her cause.

Fundraising is near and dear to my heart for many reasons...and we all know that I suffer from a chronic disease myself. It is very frustrating to live a healthy lifestyle and still have issues that cannot be fixed.

So please consider one of these two causes. Remember, charitable donations are tax deductible and lots of companies do a matching program where they will match any donation you give.

Thanks for reading! XO
