Twilight

So I am totally obsessed with Stephanie Meyer's 'Twilight' series. I am on book 3 and all I want to do is read. I don't want to clean, cook, do laundry, or even talk on the phone. When Eden wakes up from her nap, I feel a pang of disappointment that I have to put my book down. How pitiful is that!? I don't even want to 'waste time' working out. All I want to do is read.

Speaking of working out....geesh!...how frustrating. Usually after a baby I can whip myself into shape with the snap of my fingers. I can lose 5 lbs in a week if I want to. This time? Nope. Not happening. I am STUCK at 144 lbs and the scale isn't budging (except to rise a few lbs whenever I decide to stray from my good eating). I still have 10-15 lbs to lose and it seems like I will never get there. Is this some cruel joke God plays on you when you reach thirysomething? If so, its not funny.

Today I am off to run before Mike leaves for work, and then after I drop the kids at school, I will head to the gym for some weight training. We have a friends' birthday lunch today so I'd better be good this morning so I can have something besides lettuce for lunch.

So I'd better get moving. We had a great weekend in Gulf Breeze! Thanks to Laura and Ty for having us. I loved meeting baby Leah and playing with Nate!

Edens stats and Pumpkin Patch pics

OK...here they all are...as promised!
Eden was 11 lbs 2 oz. at her appointment. That puts her in the 70% for her weight. She was 22 inches long, which puts her in the 50% for her height.

In comparison:
Jacob was 14 lbs. 14 oz. and 24.5 inches, and
Parker was 12 lbs. 13 oz. and 25 inches.

She is definitely smaller than the boys, but holding her own on the "girls" chart. She is happy and perfect, although she does have a small case of thrush, which they put her on meds for. Poor little baby girl had to get 4 shots and an oral vaccine today. She no likey the shots ONE BIT! She did the 30 second silent cry and then let out a loud scream. She promptly stopped though when I picked her up. I love being the hero! ;)

Here is a pic of her from the Pumpkin Patch today. I don't generally like babies in black, but this is a kitty cat onsie for Halloween and I couldn't resist putting her in it for the Pumpkin Patch. I also tried one of these huge silly flower/bows. In this pic, she is wondering why I didn't just leave it at home in the drawer. (but sorry Eden, mommy finally got a girl!)

Here is some of all 3 kiddos. It is insanely hard to get them all to look and smile at the same time, so I don't. I just take candids and hope one of them turns out OK. This time I got a few cute ones!

And this one just to show off Jacob's pretty eyes!

Speaking of Jacob's eyes...here is a great shot of him and Eden. He looks so sweet holding her! He really does love her to death and is so gentle and nice to her.

And lastly.....my precious Parker Bear! The poor middle child. Why do they always come last? He isn't the tiny baby, and he isn't the sweet, handsome big boy. But he *is* crazy, loud, daring, clumsy, silly, cuddly, funny, and mostly just as CUTE as he can be. He is so sweet and although he may look big, he is still (and will always be!) my little baby Poo Bear.

Enjoy the pics! PS....who slipped the sap into my coffee this morning? ;)

29 hours and counting.....

Well, 29 hours and counting until I get to meet baby Leah! I am so excited. I can't wait to play and snuggle with Nate, too. It is going to be soo nice to be on an airplane ALONE! We haven't flown much lately, but when we have, we have had the kiddos with us. Will I actually get to read this time? I am totally obsessed with the 'Twilight' series and all I want to do is read. And I will get to for two hours straight! WOOHOO! Eden is still so easy that she doesn't count as a child yet...lol. She is still in her sleepy daze...so she is as easy as pie.

The weekend after Gulf Breeze, the Devennys will be here. The weekend after that, Mama Lou, Ebbs and Kaley will be here. The weekend after that, we have dinner club here (a Halloween/costume party dinner club). Should be loads of fun. The weekend after that, Mike has his Nascar weekend. He is staying in an RV with his buddies and of course going to a Nascar race or two. And then the weekend after that is his birthday!! By that time we will be in the middle of November. We are going to be so busy!

Well, today the kids and I head to the Pumpkin Patch for a field trip for Jacob's school. I am taking Parker today just because I have nothing else to do with him. He goes with his class tomorrow though, so he gets to go twice! Tomorrow I will be gone though, so Daddy is taking him. He will love that and it should be fun for Mike too.

I will update later on Eden's stats and include some pic of the kids at the Pumpkin Patch.

The weekend

Well, the weekend is here again. YIPPEE!! I love the weekend for two reasons. 1) Sleep and 2) Help! Totally different reasons that I used to love the weekend 5 years ago....but the weekends are still just as enjoyable nonetheless. Tonight we have football practice, followed by a 9:45 am game tomorrow. Then tomorrow after naps we are headed to McKinney Oktoberfest. I don't have high hopes for McKinney Oktoberfest, but I'm sure we will have a good time. After living in Switzerland and experiencing true Germany...I have little faith that Oktoberfest in Texas can compare in any way shape or form. While I am hoping Oktoberfest will be like this:

With lots of

and....

I'm sure in actuality it will be more like:

With lots of

And

I'm sure we will make the best of it though.....and a German beer is sounding VERY yummy about right now!

WOW! Has it been 8 weeks!??

When I created this blog, I fully intended for this to be a documentary of Eden's first days/weeks and then for it to turn into a "tell all" of our day to day lives. It has now been 8 weeks and I have not written so much as a sentence in here! I guess than means I am either too busy, or too lazy to keep up with it like I should. You be the judge. ;)

I guess I should start with Eden's arrival. She came into our world on Monday, July 28th at 12:22 pm. I had a scheduled C section this time, so we knew what to expect. We had to check in at 10 am that morning, to which they led us to a nice room to prep me. They started my IV and then we hung around for a while just waiting for it to begin. My nerves were CRAZY that morning, I could not even lay still in the bed! It is a surreal experience when something so monumental as your own baby's birth is about to happen, and all you can do to prepare is lay there and watch "The View"! We waited and waited though and finally at about 11:45 they told us that Dr. Webster was on her way and that it was time to take me to the OR.

They wheeled me in to the room and did my spinal, which went off (or should I say in) without a hitch. After a few minutes I started to feel really nauseous and then all of a sudden I felt like I was going to puke! I told the anesthesiologist how I was feeling and she gave me a pan, to which I proceeded to dry heave in for a few minutes (eww!). She started the blood pressure medication and told me that low blood pressure was a side effect of the spinal and that my BP had been down to 59/25. Was I even alive!?? I started to feel better almost immediately though and by the time they brought Mike in, I was feeling 100% and ready to begin!

After Dr. Webster got in the room, it all happened very quickly. Mike was amazed at how much pulling, tugging, and cutting there was. No wonder you are so sore after a C section! Our beautiful girl came out at 12:22 pm, screaming crying! It is so cliche to go on and on about what a wonderful sound that is....but it is so true. That little cry lets you know that a) she is alive, b) she is breathing on her own and c) she is doing well enough that she has the energy to cry! It is truly a beautiful sound. This was the first time I cried when one of my children was born. With Jacob I was dog tired and just glad it was over, with Parker I was scared to death since I wasn't prepared for a C section...but this time was different. I was so peaceful and just so, so happy to have her here!

They held her over the sheet for just a second and then brought her over to her cart, where they cleaned her off and suctioned her mouth and nose. C section babies don't get all of that amniotic fluid "squeezed out" as they come down the birth canal like vaginal babies do, so they usually have to work on them for just a minute before they give them to you. I looked over as they were working on her and my first words were, "She looks just like Jacob!" (which she still does). She is absolutely gorgeous, with dark brown hair and a little tuft of white blonde hair right at the top, on her soft spot. We don't know if it is a birthmark or something that will go away, but I personally hope it stays. It is something that makes her different and unique and I love that. Not that her own being doesn't make her unique, but it looks like a little angel kiss and I find myself looking at it all the time. I just love it!

The rest of our hospital experience went well. Bebe was here staying with the boys and they both enjoyed coming up to the hospital and meeting their baby sister. We came home on Thursday and things have been wonderful ever since. She fits right in just perfectly, and so far life with three is not really any different than it was with the two. Sometimes when I go out and people see me with the kids, I get a lot of "WOW, you really have your hands full!" To which I always reply, "Yes, I do.....but better full than empty!". We are so blessed with 3 perfect children.

Eden is just the greatest baby; only fussing when she is hungry or over tired. Well, add the occasional cries when Parker screeches. Poor little baby jumps out of her skin sometimes. Plus, it triggers her startle reflex, so she can go from sound asleep, so eyes wide open and arms flaling. Dude has the neighborhood dogs at our doorstep with his screeching...it is so insanely loud! But she is just as happy as ever with the smiles and coos happening all the time. She is getting to be such a big girl and has already lost that "newborn look"...it makes me so sad! She is definitely our last, as I had my tubes tied with my C section. It makes me so sad, although I know it is for the best and honestly don't think we would have any others anyway. I am so glad I ended on such a good note though! After Parker being so colicky, it is so refreshing to have a happy content baby who sleeps and smiles all day. She is the perfect caboose. :)

Well, I am off to tidy up this house. I am going to try to write in here more often, although judging my track record....we'll see how that goes. :) I really do want to have a written account of all the shenanigans that go on here....so I am going to try my best. More about the boys sometime later.

Oh yeah!! Real quick.... how could I forget!?? Or newest niece/ cousin/ love bug was born yesterday morning at 7:45 am. Leah Elizabeth is here...all 6 lbs. 3 oz. of her. She is BEAUTIFUL (and I am not biased) ;) and I can't wait to meet her! Eden and I are heading for Gulf Breeze next Thursday so until then I will be on pins and needles waiting to see and hold her. I can't wait!! And just to hang out with Laura makes me so excited! I have been lucky enough to be pregnant with her the last two times and it has been so much fun.

Ta ta for now and more to come later....

2 weeks to go!

2 weeks from today, our little Eden will be here. Everything is done and we are 100% ready for her....and sooooo excited! Trisha and Maitlen come to visit on Sunday, stay until Thursday and then Friday my mom comes for baby! It has approached so quickly and I cant believe it is that time already.

Everything else is going well. Jacob's b-day is next Friday and his party is next Wednesday, so he is really excited about that. All is well with Parker also. We have gotten him adjusted into Jacob's room in a bed, so that is nice.

So that's all for today really...not too much to say. I have been keeping a list though of what people think the baby's name is. Besides Laura, no one has guessed it. I just love hearing all the guesses!!

Betty - Eve

Tom - Sarah

Kim - Megan

Mitch - Stephanie

Katelynn - Raven

Scott - Allison

Chris & Ashley - Sarah or Julia

Laura - Eden

Tammy - Hope or Faith

Monica - Isabel "Izzy"

Deborah - Sarah or Grace

That's all that I can remember. I think some people haven't told me their guesses though...or else they don't have guesses. Fun, fun!!
