Eden fixed, originally uploaded by jhdevenny.

Its amazing what photo software can do. Not only could I get all the chocolate off Eden's face, but I can fix the picture in general. Doesn't this picture look cooler after it was fixed? So fun!

If you haven't yet....

Check it out. I have a new cooking blog!

K is for Kitchen

Coffee and 42 vitamins

Let's play a guessing game. Which 2 year old do you know that sneaks coffee and drinks it? The same one that ate 42 vitamins on Saturday! You guessed it...Parker!

Saturday at about noon, Parker randomly threw up. We could tell he didn't feel bad, so we were brainstorming what could have caused him to throw up. Mike mentioned that Jacob had told him earlier that he had seen Parker eating 2 vitamins. Since Mike had already given him one, that made a total of 3. Mike said, "maybe the 3 vitamins caused him to throw up?". When he said that I grabbed the jar of vitamins and looked in it. I had bought the jar just the day before...and it was nearly empty! I immediately dumped them out and counted them, and there were 12 left. There were 60 count in the jar, so I did the math on what we had already given them the day before and it left 42 unaccounted for. 42 vitamins!!

I called poison control right away and they told me since there was no iron in them that he would be ok, just to watch him for stomach upset and to keep him on the brat diet for the rest of the day. Thank goodness he was OK....how scary!!

And yes, this is the same child that sneaks drinks of my coffee and says, "please, just onnnnnne sip.". LOL!

Crazy Jacob

So yesterday Jacob wanted to put on all of his old uniforms and have me take pictures with the trophies he got for that sport. He is so funny! So here they are...all of his poses!

And then one of Parker...just cuz he's cute, messy face and all!

Photo week 13

She is trying SO desperately to crawl!! She spends half her day either rocking on her knees or just like this. Maybe she will be a crab crawler just like me!??

Don't mind the chocolate on her face. I was making a cake and put a tiny bit of the frosting into her mouth to see what she would do. She ended up smearing it all over her face but she definitely liked it!

Eden, 8 months

Today is Eden's 8 month 'birthday'. So hard to believe. She is sleeping through the night, 6:30-6:30. Taking 2 naps a day and loving to self feed! She has liked everything we have given her, never once spitting something out or refusing to eat it. She is so happy go lucky and is always smiling! For having such a small mouth, she really opens it big and wide when she smiles just like Jacob used to. She reminds me so much of him, which is a great thing since I have forgotten so much of what he was like as a little tiny one. Parker is still fresh on the brain since it wasn't that long ago, but it is hard to remember Jacob. Now that I have her, she is bringing it all back!

So here is her pic. She is growing bigger and cuter every day!

Vini Vidi Vici!

I came, I saw, I conquered!

Rome was amazing. Absolutely amazing. The trip was pretty much a whirlwind, but it was still great. The race was so cool. The streets were cobblestone, narrow and extremely uneven. There were spectators everywhere, most of which were smoking. Europeans are not typically as polite as Americans, so in their Euro fashion, I was pushed more times than I can count. The B.O. was atrocious and most of the men's shorts were WAY shorter than you would desire to see (if you know what I mean!!!). But the race was so authentic! I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. It was so 'Rome'. I loved every step of it and the memories I have, I will cherish for the rest of my life.

We passed some awesome landmarks, such as; the Trevi fountain, St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican City, the Spanish Steps. The race began and ended at the Coliseum. At one point, we were running down a small street. We turned a corner and this was in front of us. St. Peter's, in all of it's glory! It was a real inspiration.

At many points in the race I remembered why I was doing this. Our North Texas Chapter alone raised $235,000 for the Rome race! It was a true honor to run with our purple jerseys on, in honor of all of the people suffering from Leukemia and Lymphoma and in memory of those who have passed on. The night before at our pasta party, 3 people spoke who suffer from different forms of these diseases. All of these brave men were competing in the race the next day! I knew if they could do it, so could I. I was almost in tears a couple of times during the race when I would look to the side and see people with Team in Training posters; people suffering from the diseases that had travelled to Rome with family members who were running for them. They were our there with cowbells, signs and pom poms shouting, "GO TEAM!!!"

So all of the training; the early Saturday mornings in the freezing cold, rain and wind. Raising $8,000 for cancer research. Missing Jacob's basketball practice every week so I could go out on Tuesday nights and train. Giving up many Friday night gatherings so that I could get enough rest for the next day. Running during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Running in Hawaii. Being so sore that it was hard to move, countless times!! All of the sacrifices you make all come to a head on that day. It is a very special day and the race is a true celebration of the entire season. It is amazing and I am so proud to have done it. Here are a few pictures of our journey.

Jen and I in front of the famous Trevi fountain. Legend has it that if you throw a coin into the fountain, you are ensured a trip back to Rome. I threw 5 in; one for each member of my family!

Me signing the marathon wall. I am part of history! ;)

My training buddies and I before the race. I had to wear my TNT shirt on TOP of my jacket because it was so cold! I took it off after about 2 miles though.

St. Peters, Mile 11 (me on the left)

Piazza Navona, Mile 21 (again me on the left)

The Trevi fountain, Mile 24. (The black thing in front of my face is my ipod wire).

Me receiving my medal!

St. Patty's Day at the park

You can click on that box at the bottom right (with the arrows going every which way) to view it full screen. We had lots of fun....ENJOY!

Spring Break and Happy St. Patty's Day!

Well folks, it is spring break at the Devenny house. This means lots of fun at the park, the bounce house & pizza for lunch, chicken fingers and french fries for dinner, a trip to Daddy's late night softball game....and that was just yesterday. Rest assured that the rest of the week is booked up just like yesterday was! On the agenda today is St. Patty's Day at the park. Green juice boxes, green cupcakes...and green lunch if I can come up with something green that they would find appealing for lunch. Call me crazy but I don't think a salad will fly. Tonight we are going to Main Event, which just opened right down the road. Bowling, laser tag, arcade games...you know, kid stuff. Fun!

Anyway, lots of fun to be had in Texas this week....for the children. 10 o'clock bedtimes + slam packed days = GROUCHY children! ACK! Of course, I will be in Rome in 3 days (HOLLA!), so what do I have to complain about? No, really I love not having to rush out of the house so early in the morning so I love Spring Break!

I hope you all have a great St. Patty's Day, and don't forget to wear your green!

Eden trying to crawl

What a lazy bones! She is 7 1/2 months old and still not crawling. Of course, developmentally this is OK, and life is much easier when she is not mobile, but I am still anxious for her to crawl! I love seeing my children reach their milestones. She is so close though. She does scoot backwards, just not forward yet. In fact, we will find her at the very back of the living room with her legs stuck under a table. She scoots backwards as far as she can, but she can't figure out the forward motion. She also sits herself up. She was not amused in this video, but as you can see, she is so ready!

I'm BAAAA-AACK! (I think)

My new hard drive came in on Thursday and Mike has been very busy trying to get everything installed on it. It is frustrating now to have it exactly like I like it....but it is definitely better than nothing! It is kind of like trying to cook an intricate meal with very limited ingredients. You just have to make do!

I am still having trouble with my Flickr account...which is where I store all of my 52 week pictures. I will just upload them here for now and then add them to my photostream once I get my issues resolved.

Sooo...here was last week, week 10. I try to make the pictures 'week appropriate' and this one definitely is. She chews HARD on everything. She is probably trying to cut her top two teeth because she will bite down sooo hard and grind her gums back and forth.

10/52

Now here is week 11, this past weeks picture. All smiles being entertained by her brother! Jacob is definitely her favorite person. As he told Ana this past week when Ana commented that Eden liked her...."Eden likes me better; she likes me best of all!" And it's true. Her face lights up when he walks in the room or even when she hears his voice.

11/52

Soooooo, in other news.....I leave for Rome in 4 DAYS! I am so excited. Our team was on cloud 9 this past weekend knowing that it was the last run before Rome. We are going to have so much fun! I am so excited to get there I can barely stand it. You know I am excited when I am going to start laying out clothes this afternoon. Usually I am packing at 10 o'clock the night before.

I will be away Thursday evening through Tuesday evening, but until then I promise to blog. I'm back!!

Eden's 7 month pic....and other stuff.

Well I broke down and downloaded some pics to my old computer. I don't like to do that, because I like all of my pictures to be housed in the same spot...but if I have lost all my pictures I figure they don't have a home anyway! WAHH! I am having a problem logging in to Flickr for my weekly shots, so that will have to wait a little longer.

These past few weeks have been pretty crazy....but what's new? Ty and Laura and the kids were here and that was a blast. Parker and Nate played so well together and they followed Jacob around everywhere he went. Leah and Eden were so fun to watch and each time they are together they are more and more alike. At first Eden was doing stuff and Leah was just asleep! Each and every time they are together they are more and more alike and it is just so cute!

The last weekend they were here, I raced in the Cowtown half marathon in Ft. Worth. Our team did it as part of our training, and the last long run before Rome. I leave next Thursday...can you believe it!? I did great in the race and was very, very proud of my time. I dropped 9 minutes off my race; going from 2:02 to 1:53 in just 2.5 months. I carried about an 8:35 pace for the 13 miles. I was on a high for days after the race!!

As for Eden, she is doing just great. She is THE BEST BABY in the entire world. I feel like all she does is smile, laugh and coo. Occasionally she grunts when she is hungry or fusses a little when she is tired, but it is rare that she actually gets a good cry going on. She is soooo cute and we are just having a blast with her. She is getting chubbier and chubbier each and every day and I think she is close to 20 lbs. already! We wont know until her 9 month check up, but according to our scale she is at about 19 lbs. or so. She is a great eater and gets baby food twice a day. She loves eating Cheerios and the Gerber Puffs (that melt in your mouth). Ana commented the other day that she is the cleanest eater. She gets nothing on her face! She gobbles it all up and hits the tray constantly to show her excitement.

So here is her 7 month pic....she is growing like a weed!

I am thinking about getting my OB to untie my tubes so I can have another one JUST like her! (kidding of course)

The boys are doing great. I register Jacob for Kindergarten mid-April so he is super stoked about that. Baseball practice started last week and he loves it. We had his last Basketball game Saturday and he actually stole the ball from someone. He has such a passive personality on and off the field/court, so he isn't a very aggressive sports player. We have been telling him that it is OK to take the ball from someone, but he always looks so shy out there and would never just take the ball from someone! But he did Saturday. YAY! He has lost 2 teeth now and now has a permanent tooth growing in. It is huge!!

Parker follows Jacob around like a hawk and wants to do EVERYTHING that he does. He is too young to play team sports, but he wants to so badly. He dribbles a basketball around the house constantly, punts the soccer ball in and out of the house (much to my dismay) and sleeps with his plastic bat, baseball and football. I need to take a picture of this one day to submit to Sports Illustrated when he is a superstar athlete. I am calling it now! Dude has skills. And now a pic of him...just because he is cute!

My apologies....

I apologize for not keeping up with my blog as well as I have been these last couple months. We had a houseful last week (which was awesome and I was so sad to see them go), and now my computer is on the fritz. I am typing now from my old SLOW laptop. Suddenly last Saturday my computer "could not detect the hard drive". Mike brought it into work and they determined that it was indeed shot. He ordered another one so my good computer should be back up in running in the next few days. The bad news is that EVERYTHING was housed on my old computer. We had backups of everything up until Eden's birth...but nothing since then. All of my pictures, etc....gone. We can try to pay someone to retrieve some of that information off of it, which we will do, but there are no guarantees. All of my pictures of my baby! I could just cry. I remain positive that we will be able to get them off though.

Speaking of my baby.....a year ago this very day we learned that Eden was a girl. Chris and Ashley McCool were in the hospital having Nolan, and we were upstairs getting our ultrasound. We walked downstairs to see them and their new baby boy after the ultrasound. Nolan is a year old today so I was reminded of that whole day and how exciting it was for both of us family's. Boy how time flies!!

I have taken Eden's 7 month picture, and her picture for this week, but I am waiting until my computer is fixed to upload them. Sit tight though, I promise to get back as soon I can!!
